At the present time the city has begun a clean cities initiative and has hired a special enforcement officer to enforce code violations as they pertain to buildings and other nuisances. Again, I feel that this is a rather hit and miss shotgun approach to a problem that is beginning to effect more and more areas in the city.
I think a far more efficient way to handle these problems would be to form neighborhood citizen advisory groups. It is strongly felt that the people who live in a neighborhood have the best knowledge of the problems that their area faces. These citizen advisory groups on a regular basis would prepare a report which would be submitted to the Mayor for study. After the reports would be thoroughly studied the Mayor would meet personally with these citizens and work toward a solution.
